Pumps Market in India to grow at a CAGR of 9.66% during the period 2016 - 2020; Finds New Report

Pumps Market in India 2016 - 2020

Report forecast the pumps market in India to grow at a CAGR of 9.66% during the period 2016-2020.

The global pump market is projected to grow at a CAGR of 5.47% during the forecast period, and is likely to reach $55.32 billion by the end of 2020. Though the global growth of the market is expected to be robust, the factors that fuel this growth will vary from region to region. In emerging economies such as India and China, growth in the pump market will primarily be the result of rapid industrialization as investments in the water infrastructure and power generation sectors grow. In the developed countries, improving manufacturing output will enable the growth of process manufacturing industries. In the US, improving economy and the boom in hydraulic fracking (fracturing) in the country’s oil and gas sector will accelerate the demand for pumps.

The report covers the present scenario and the growth prospects of the pumps market in India for 2016-2020. To calculate the market size, the report considers the demand for pumps from various end-users. The average price of pumps has been taken into consideration for estimating the market revenue.

The market is divided into the following segments based on geography:
  • Andhra Pradesh
  • Delhi
  • Gujarat
  • Karnataka
  • Madhya Pradesh
  • Maharashtra
  • Mumbai
  • Punjab
  • Rest of India
  • Tamil Nadu
  • Uttar Pradesh
  • West Bengal

According to the report, increasing demand for energy-efficient pumps in agriculture sector will be a key driver for market growth. In India, the agriculture sector is the major end-user of pumps that accounts for nearly 30% share of the overall market. The BEE has collaborated with state and central governments to promote the use of BEE star rated pumps, as the high-energy efficiency of these pumps result in significant cost and energy savings. These energy-efficient agriculture pumps, on an average, cost $50, which is comparatively more than their non-rated counterparts or pumps. As cost remains as the major factor for selection of pumps among small and medium farmers, there are many large and regional players offering non-star rated products for much lesser rate when compared with star-rated pumps.

Further, the report states that poor quantity and quality of electricity supply will be a challenge for the market. Irregular supply of electricity in India not only hampers the installation of pumps but also encourages sales in the unorganized sector. The voltage level required to operate high-quality pumps is higher compared to the actual voltage level of electricity in most agricultural regions in the country. Therefore, players from the unorganised sector are taking advantage of this situation and providing pumps that can operate at full potential in low-voltage levels. However, pumps offered by the unorganized sector are highly inefficient in terms of energy efficiency, leading to national level losses in the overall power consumption.

Mexico, Russia, Singapore and Slovakia Autos Report Q4 2016; New Report Launched

Mexico, Russia, Singapore and Slovakia Autos Report Q4 2016

Import restrictions on used cars will continue to limit the supply of second hand cars into Mexico, pushing more households up into the new car market or down into the motorcycle market and spurring new car and motorcycle sales.

Key Views
  • Passenger car segment to outperform despite the Bank of Mexico beginning an interest rate hiking cycle, given private consumption growth and better household access to finance following financial reforms and increasing formalisation of the labour market.
  • The risk of the government stalling on its introduction of Euro VI regulations for heavy commercial vehicles is increasing the downside risks to our 2017 heavy truck and bus sales forecasts.
  • Production growth will be sustained over the next five years as large-scale OEM investments come online and exports to Latin America recover.

Declining real wages coupled with high inflation will drag on passenger vehicle sales as consumer purchasing power is eroded. Although we maintain a broadly negative outlook for the domestic vehicle industry to 2020 as it remains below its previous peak level, total vehicle sales will return to positive growth in 2017 and continue growing to 2020.

Key Views
  • Falling real wages, due to decreasing gross wages, and working hours alongside high inflation will all weigh on consumer purchasing power and confidence leading to faster sales declines in passenger cars than in commercial vehicles.
  • The renewed scrappage scheme and other industry subsidies will help the market find its floor in 2016 but will be far less effective than in previous years.
  • Pricing pressures to remain high due to costly supply chain restructuring towards local suppliers and the introduction of Euro 5 standards.

The vehicle de-registration and replacement process will drive total vehicle sales growth to its peak of some 131.500 vehicles before entering a sustained decline to 2020. Commercial vehicle sales will continue to decline to 2020 having reached a peak in 2015, while any sales growth drivers associated with construction are already priced into the market.

Key Views
  • Total vehicle sales forecast to grow by 67.3% to 131,508 units in 2016.
  • Passenger vehicle sales forecast to outperform as any support offered to commercial vehicle sales via infrastructure projects are already priced into the market.
  • Total vehicle registrations are up 62.6% y-o-y in 7M16 to 69,623 units.

A strong consumer outlook underpinned by low interest rates, rising real wages and a strengthening labour market will drive an expansion of 14.5% in Slovakian vehicle sales in 2016.

Key Views
  • Vehicle sales will grow 14.5% in 2016.
  • A strong labour market, access to cheap credit and rising disposable incomes will continue to drive growth in the passenger car segment.
  • Growth in online retailing and the construction of energy and transport infrastructure projects will drive an expansion in commercial vehicle sales.
  • The ongoing recovery in the European auto market will bode well for Slovakia's passenger car production and export growth.

Egypt, Ghana and Ukraine Agribusiness Report Q4 2016; New Report Launched

Egypt, Ghana and Ukraine Agribusiness Report Q4 2016

We have not made significant changes to our forecasts in this quarter's update. We retain our view that Egypt will face growing production deficits in grains and meat, as it focuses on export-oriented cash crops, while the dairy sector will benefit from sustained private investment. Leading up to 2020, an expanding population and rising disposable incomes will support consumption growth in sugar and dairy products. Moreover, rice and beef consumption will benefit from the greater range of products available under the new food subsidy scheme. The real challenges that Egypt faces throughout the long run are water shortages and a dire need to improve farming mechanisms to conserve water for sustained irrigation purposes.

Key Forecasts
Wheat production by 2020: 8.42mn tonnes. Wheat production will be constrained by a greater amount of arable land being devoted to export-oriented crops.

We believe that the Ghanaian cocoa sector will post reasonably strong growth throughout our forecast period to 2019/20. High cocoa prices will encourage production, while the government has pledged schemes in order to encourage yield growth. However, a significant portion of the growth will be due to base effects. We also see long-term opportunities (but also significant structural challenges) in the Ghanaian palm oil sector.

Key Forecasts
  • Cocoa production growth 2014/15 to 2019/20: 9% to 853,000 tonnes. While much of this growth will be due to base effects, the government has committed to supplying free inputs and improving infrastructure, while Cocobod has reformed its cocoa payment price.
  • 2016 real GDP growth: 4.2% (up from an estimated 3.4% in 2015).
  • 2016 consumer price inflation (ave): 17.9% (down from an estimated 17.1% in 2015).

We retain our generally negative outlook for Ukraine's agricultural sector in 2016 owing to a range of concerns. All agricultural markets will be negatively affected by the poor macroeconomic fundamentals in Ukraine. There will be limited investment into the country over the coming quarters given the unstable political and economic situation, which will affect agricultural production over our forecast period. Russia's ban on imports from Ukraine will weigh on production for the dairy and livestock industries, as Russia represents one of Ukraine's largest agricultural export markets. Furthermore, significant currency depreciation will limit imports, hitting input use and domestic investment. However, we believe that Ukrainian farmers will fail to benefit from the opportunities linked to this weaker currency due to export restrictions and lack of resources to scale up production in the medium term.

Key Forecasts
  • Corn production will decline by 18.0% in 2015/16 to reach a total value of 23.3mn tonnes.
  • We are estimating the wheat crop in 2016/17 to decline by 8.3% to reach 25.0mn tonnes.
  • The livestock and dairy sectors will perform poorly in 2015/16 owing to unsound macroeconomic conditions.
