Serbia’s nominal gross domestic product is expected to grow at a CAGR of 6.12%
from it’s 2015 level of RSD 4043.47 billion and reach RSD 6130.20 billion by
2022.
Serbia, officially the Republic of Serbia, is
a country located at the crossroads of Central and Southeast Europe, covering
the southern part of the Pannonian Plain and the central Balkans. A landlocked
country in relative proximity to the Mediterranean, Serbia borders Hungary to
the north; Romania and Bulgaria to the east; Macedonia to the south; and

the disputed territory of Kosovo. The capital of Serbia, Belgrade, is among
Europe's oldest cities and one of the largest in Southeast Europe.
Serbia had estimated population of 7.021
million in the year 2016 and expected to reach 6.854 million by 2022. Serbia's
unemployment rate was 15.905% of total labor force.
Serbia's real gross domestic product (GDP)
was around RSD 3.54 billions in 2016 whereas the nominal GDP was RSD 4200
billions. This resulted in GDP deflator 130.837. Per capita GDP was estimated
at USD 5376.26 whereas purchasing power parity (PPP) based per capita GDP was
estimated to be at USD 14493.13.
In 2016, Serbia government's revenue was RSD
1779.19 billions whereas the expenditure was RSD 1832.92 billions. This
resulted Serbia government's net lending / borrowing negative at RSD 53.729
billion in 2016 indicating that enough financial resources were not made
available by the government to boost economic growth.
The current account balance for Serbia was
estimated to be negative at USD 1.516 billions for the year 2016 and is
expected to decline at a CAGR of 1.82% and reach USD 1.987 by 2022. This
negative current account balance indicates the Serbia is a net borrower from
the whole world.
