(IMF) Guyana’s nominal gross domestic product is expected to grow at a CAGR of
10.55% from it’s 2015 level of GYD 657.389 billion and reach GYD 1326.98
billion by 2022.
Guyana, officially the
Co-operative Republic of Guyana, is a sovereign state on the northern coast of
South America. Although Guyana is part of the Anglophone Caribbean, it is one
of the few Caribbean countries that is not an island. The Caribbean Community
(CARICOM), of which Guyana is a member, has its secretariat's headquarters in

Guyana's real gross domestic
product (GDP) was around GYD 398.016 billions in 2016 whereas the nominal GDP
was GYD 709.663 billions. This resulted in GDP deflator 178.3. Per capita GDP
was estimated at USD 4474.77 whereas purchasing power parity (PPP) based per
capita GDP was estimated to be at USD 7872.87.
In 2016, Guyana government's
revenue was GYD 203.285 billions whereas the expenditure was GYD 243.33
billions. This resulted Guyana government's net lending / borrowing negative at
GYD 31.045 billion in 2016 indicating that enough financial resources were not
made available by the government to boost economic growth.
The current account balance for
Guyana was estimated to be at USD 0.12 billions for the year 2016 and is
expected to fall for the year 2017-2020, and further it is expected to grow at
a CAGR of 190.79% and reach USD 0.092 by 2022.
