Panama, officially the Republic of
Panama, is the southernmost country of Central America and the whole of North
America. Situated on the isthmus connecting North and South America, it is

was estimated at USD 13654.07 whereas purchasing power parity (PPP) based per
capita GDP was estimated to be at USD 23023.89.
In 2016, Panama governments
revenue was PAB 11.318 billions whereas the expenditure was PAB 12.544
billions. This resulted Panama governments net lending / borrowing negative at
PAB 1.226 billion in 2016 indicating that enough financial resources were not
made available by the government to boost economic growth.
The current account balance for
Panama was estimated to be negative at USD 2.94 billions for the year 2016 and
is expected to decline at a CAGR of 4.90% and reach USD 2.672 by 2022. This
negative current account balance indicates the Panama is a net borrower from
the whole world.
