Tanzania, officially the United Republic of Tanzania, is a country in East
Africa in the African Great Lakes region. It is bordered by Kenya and Uganda to
the north; Rwanda, Burundi and the Democratic Republic of the Congo to the
west; and Zambia, Malawi and Mozambique to the south. The country's eastern
border is formed by the Indian Ocean. Kilimanjaro, Africa's

Tanzania’s
real gross domestic product (GDP) was around TZS 47002.19 billions in 2016
whereas the nominal GDP was TZS 102723.968 billions. This resulted in GDP
deflator 218.551. Per capita GDP was estimated at USD 970.205 whereas
purchasing power parity (PPP) based per capita GDP was estimated to be at USD
3080.32.
In
2016, Tanzania government’s revenue was TZS 16316.21 billions whereas the
expenditure was TZS 20173.11 billions. This resulted Tanzania government’s net
lending / borrowing negative at TZS 3856.90 billion in 2016 indicating that
enough financial resources were not made available by the government to boost
economic growth.
The
current account balance for Tanzania was estimated to be negative at USD 2.98
billions for the year 2016 and is expected to decrease at a CAGR of 4.24% and
reach USD 4.863 by 2022. This negative current account balance indicates the
Tanzania is a net borrower from the whole world.
